“Bitter Harvest”
As far as “Classical Painting” goes, there is not a better pictorial reference than still life. Yet, what inspired me the most about this particular piece was how wonderfully the light danced and shimmered around the subject. Not as much a study of tonal values as it was a culmination of beautiful, intermingling color that beckons to be noticed.

“Cat & Mice”
I haven’t had many opportunities to simply portray a fun scene. Despite its appeal from an artistic perspective, “Cat & Mice” was a “feel good” piece. Nothing is more innocent and fun to watch as a cat at play. It was my intent to sketch this piece in pencil with the hope it would liven up any room.

I wanted to portray, with this piece, the coming of spring time; to invoke feelings of freshness and new found hope. I think the bird at ease amidst the berries conveys this intention beautifully.
